A massive party erupted at the Cenajo reservoir in Albacete, but the event faced an unexpected threat as the weather suddenly turned. Around 3,000 people gathered for an unauthorized rave are now forced to heed warnings of heavy rain and snowfall. The situation is made worse by the fact that access roads to the site have already been blocked off, making it impossible to leave by car.
Guardia Civil forces have not only stepped up patrols but also formed a tight perimeter around the area where the festivities continue. Roads leading to Cenajo, especially along the AB-408 highway, are nearly gridlocked due to hundreds of parked vehicles. Organizers and guests find themselves trapped between the ongoing party and the growing risk of being cut off from the outside world.
Operation and control
About 300 law enforcement officers have been deployed in the area. Their mission is not only to keep order but also to be ready for emergency evacuation if weather conditions suddenly worsen. Forecasts predict heavy precipitation in the coming hours, with temperatures that could drop to zero. This poses a real danger for everyone still at the scene.
There is heightened attention to road safety. Due to the large number of cars parked along the AB-408 highway, traffic has come to a standstill. Authorities emphasize that if snow starts to fall, evacuating people will become extremely difficult. Nevertheless, despite the warnings, most participants are in no hurry to leave — the festive atmosphere is prevailing over common sense.
International scale
Interestingly, this time there are many foreigners among the guests. Not only Spaniards have gathered in Albacete, but also visitors from France (Francia), Denmark (Dinamarca), and other countries. Many arrived in camper vans and motorhomes, planning to spend the New Year holidays here. The first groups began arriving as early as the evening of December 30, and by the morning the number of participants had grown to several thousand.
Attempts to disperse the crowd were made as early as the first night, but they were largely unsuccessful. After a brief pause, some guests tried moving to the neighboring village of Cordovilla (Cordovilla), but soon everyone returned to the reservoir. Now they all find themselves at the center of events, which could turn into a real test of endurance.
Severe weather threat
Meteorologists are not giving up hope for a favorable outcome. According to their forecasts, heavy rain and snow are expected in the Senajo area within the next 24 hours. This will not only make life harder for rave participants, but could also lead to emergency situations. Authorities have already warned that if the weather deteriorates, evacuation will be extremely difficult and help may be delayed.
Nevertheless, despite all the warnings, the atmosphere on site remains tense yet festive. The music doesn’t stop; people keep dancing as if unaware of the approaching danger. But is it worth risking it all for a few days of fun—a question each person must answer for themselves.
Authorities respond
The Guardia Civil has expressed concern. Security operations continue around the clock, with increased checks on the roads and perimeter. Authorities urge participants to be prepared for any developments and not to ignore weather warnings.
The situation at the Senajo reservoir has become a real challenge for everyone: organizers, guests, and security forces alike. The Spanish winter does not forgive recklessness, and large outdoor events always carry risks. The main priority now is to prevent tragedy and ensure the safety of the thousands caught in the heart of the bad weather.
