Six Catalan Ski Resorts United Under Pirineu365 for Year-Round Tourism

Pirineu365: the new FlexiPass and FGC's off-season development strategy for the Pyrenees

FGC launches the Pirineu365 brand and FlexiPass to make Catalonia’s mountains attractive beyond winter. The new payment system and investments in infrastructure are set to transform leisure in the Pyrenees. Discover how tourism in the region will change.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has announced the launch of the unified Pirineu365 brand, bringing together six renowned ski resorts in the region: Vall de Núria, Vallter, La Molina, Port Ainé, Espot, and Boí Taüll. The new strategy aims to make Catalonia’s mountains attractive to tourists not only in winter, but year-round. This step is driven not only by climate change, but also by the desire to create new jobs and boost economic activity in the Pyrenees.

The ski season will run from December 4 to April 6, but now the infrastructure and services will be available even outside these dates. A key innovation is the FlexiPass — a modern payment system allowing guests to pay only for actual use of the slopes. For just 15 euros a year, visitors get access to all resorts with a guaranteed minimum price and insurance. After 17 days of skiing, further use becomes free. This solution is designed to simplify access to the slopes, eliminate the need to purchase passes in advance, and reduce queues.

Investment in infrastructure and new leisure formats

FGC is actively investing in the development of resorts. In Vallter, plans are underway to build a cable car, which will help reduce traffic on the roads and provide easier access to the mountain slopes. The project is already being prepared for public discussion, and the company hopes to speed up its implementation. At La Molina, the modernization of the popular mountain lodge Niu de l’Àliga continues; it now operates year-round as a restaurant and recreation area accessible by cable car. The renovated complex features a new event space, opening up new opportunities for business tourism in the mountains.

Rethinking tourism in the Pyrenees

Bringing the resorts together under a single brand not only expands the range of services, but also attracts a new audience—not just skiers, but also those who enjoy hiking, cycling, gastronomic tours, or simply relaxing in nature. FGC aims to increase the mountain resorts’ contribution to the regional economy from 10% to 13% in the coming years. The company is confident that the upcoming season will be successful thanks to good snow forecasts and high-quality slopes, and that the new strategy will help make the Pyrenees a sought-after destination year-round.
