In the evening, a serious accident occurred in the municipality of Benassal, located in the province of Castellón, claiming the lives of two people. A car carrying five men suddenly veered off the CV-166 road and plunged into a dried-up riverbed.
Immediately after the crash, everyone inside was trapped in the mangled vehicle. Rescue services arrived at the scene and began an operation to extract the victims. Three men were pulled out alive, but their condition required urgent medical attention. The injured were taken to different hospitals in the region, where they are receiving the necessary treatment.
The other two passengers, unfortunately, died before paramedics arrived. Law enforcement officers carried out all the necessary procedures at the scene and have started investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. At this point, it remains unclear why the car lost control and ended up in the ravine. Both mechanical failure and human error are being considered.
The stretch of road where the accident happened is not considered particularly dangerous, but visibility here is limited at night. Local residents note that such incidents in the area are extremely rare. Nevertheless, the Benassal tragedy once again raises concerns about road safety in the region and the importance of remaining vigilant behind the wheel, especially after dark.
