Week of Free Cultural Events in Madrid: Workshops, Concerts, and Tours

Discover Madrid’s Artistic Side: From Artist Residencies to Exclusive Creative Tours

From November 21 to 28, Madrid will host a series of free workshops, concerts, and guided tours. Residents can enjoy open doors at art residencies, creative activities, and unique events. Don’t miss the chance to get inspired and discover a new side of the city.

As the chilly evenings set in, Madrid keeps its cultural pace high. Despite the cold weather, the city offers a vibrant program for those not ready to spend their nights at home. This week, the capital invites locals and visitors to a series of free events — from creative workshops to guided tours of historic buildings—so everyone can find something to enjoy.

Open house at art residencies and sound design workshops

This Saturday, Matadero Madrid’s Center for Art Residencies will open its doors to all. Visitors can see how contemporary art projects are created and talk to artists as they work in real time. The space will feature installations, performances, visual artworks, and a special photo project focused on the relationship between people and animals.

For those interested in experimental art, the Villaverde district will hold an interactive workshop on creating sound compositions. Participants can try their hand at sound design, using personal memories, voices, and ambient noises to craft unique audio pieces. The workshop will pay special attention to school and family stories connected to the neighborhood.

Musical evenings and creative activities for everyone

Music lovers are invited to an intimate concert at the Museo Lázaro Galdiano, featuring the renowned vocalist of Danza Invisible. The event is limited to a small audience, creating a cozy, up-close atmosphere with the artist. Admission is free, but advance invitation is required.

Those drawn to visual creativity should check out the collage workshop led by the Madrid Street Art Project team together with artist Aly Calle. Participants will work with advertising posters found on the streets to create their own art pieces, reflecting on the urban environment and its visual noise.

Guided tours and discussions: a look at the city and society

As part of the Diálogos UNAM–Casa de América series, Casa de América will host a meeting with experts from Mexico, focusing on natural disasters and social resilience. Specialists will discuss how physical and social processes shape risks, and why it is crucial to develop scientific approaches to prevention.

A special highlight of the program is a free tour of the Banco de España building on calle de Alcalá. This is a rare opportunity to visit an architectural symbol of the country’s financial system, usually closed to the general public. Visitors will discover halls with unique decor, historic interiors, and little-known areas of the building.

All events take place in different parts of the city and are easily accessible by metro. Some activities require prior registration, so it’s worth checking the details in advance. The week promises to be vibrant and will offer new experiences to those seeking inspiration and a fresh perspective on Madrid.
