In the city of Ronda (Malaga province), National Police officers have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of possessing material depicting sexual violence against minors. The investigation began after information was received from an American organization dedicated to child protection.
The alert about the possible crime came from the United States, where specialists from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) detected activity by a user storing videos involving minors. After receiving this information, Spanish authorities launched an investigation, bringing in cybercrime experts.
International cooperation and search for the suspect
Collaboration between Spanish police and the US Embassy played a key role in the investigation. The American side provided information that made it possible to trace the suspect’s digital footprint. Cybersecurity experts analyzed the data and determined that access to the prohibited content occurred from the Malaga area.
Further actions made it possible to pinpoint the specific address from which the files were downloaded and stored. As a result of the operation, the identity of the young man living in Ronda was established.
Search and seizure of electronic devices
After locating the suspect, police searched his home. During the investigation, a mobile phone and two laptops were seized for detailed forensic examination. Seven videos depicting scenes of child sexual abuse were found on these devices.
At the same time, police reminded citizens that possessing or distributing such material is strictly prohibited. Any action involving the possession or sharing of images featuring minors in such situations is considered a criminal offense.
Role of Specialized Units and Public Warning
The investigation involved officers from the cybercrime unit as well as specialists from the local police’s Family and Women’s Affairs Department (UFAM). Their coordinated efforts led to the prompt arrest of the suspect and helped prevent the potential spread of illegal content.
Authorities urge anyone who comes across such material online to immediately report it via the dedicated email address. The police emphasize that even accidental storage or forwarding of these files can result in serious consequences.
Liability and Reminder of the Law
The case in Ronda has become yet another example of how international cooperation helps uncover crimes against children. Police remind the public that possessing, distributing, or viewing materials depicting sexual abuse of minors is a serious crime that carries severe penalties.
Authorities continue their efforts to detect such cases and urge citizens to remain vigilant in order to protect children from criminal acts in the digital space.
