DGT Implements Special Traffic Controls During Motorcycle Race in Cheste

Cheste Grand Prix: New Routes, Drones, and Helicopters Deployed for Road Safety

Cheste expects an influx of motorcycle fans from November 14 to 16. Authorities have ramped up controls and introduced new traffic routes. Find out how to reach the circuit safely and avoid traffic jams.

This coming weekend, Cheste will once again become a magnet for thousands of motorsport fans. The Ricardo Tormo Circuit will host the Valencian Community Grand Prix—a major event that traditionally leads to large-scale movement on the region’s roads. To minimize congestion and ensure safety, road authorities have put a comprehensive plan in place.

From November 14 to 16, traffic around the circuit will be managed according to a special scheme. This year, organizers have focused on keeping drivers informed: detailed maps with alternative routes for different types of transport have been published in advance. This is expected to help prevent chaos around Cheste and speed up the departure of spectators after the races conclude.

Technology and stepped-up controls

To monitor the road situation, authorities are using not only additional traffic police patrols but also advanced technology. Three helicopters with Pegasus radars will be deployed in the air, along with a drone equipped with a camera streaming footage in real time to the traffic control center. This setup allows for rapid response to incidents and flexible redirection of traffic flows.

Special attention is being given to the behavior of motorcyclists: inspectors will be monitoring group rides, dangerous maneuvers, speeding, and keeping a safe distance. Key sections of the routes will also be subject to checks for alcohol and drugs. Drivers are reminded that the risk of serious injury for motorcyclists is much higher than for car drivers.

Routes and recommendations for drivers

For visitors arriving from Valencia, there are several entry options to the circuit using different exits from the A-3 highway. If the main entrances are congested, alternative routes are available. Taxis have designated lanes to speed up passenger drop-off.

Those traveling from Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, and other cities are also advised to review the recommended roads in advance. Each direction has tailored traffic schemes that consider potential congestion and road infrastructure features. Drivers planning to head towards Madrid or Barcelona in the morning are encouraged to choose alternative routes to avoid jams caused by the influx of spectators.

Information and safety

Throughout the race days, electronic boards along the roads will display real-time updates on traffic conditions and possible changes to traffic organization. Drivers are advised to follow these updates and be especially alert near Cheste, where traffic may be heavier.

Organizers remind everyone: even if you’re not planning to visit the racetrack, expect possible delays and adjust your route in advance. For up-to-date traffic information, use the official channels of the road services or listen to radio updates.

Authorities hope that with these new measures and responsible behavior by road users, the motorcycle race will go smoothly, with all spectators able to reach the event safely and comfortably.
