Chinese automaker BYD continues to strengthen its position in the European market by introducing the new Seal 6 DM-i model in Spain. The novelty features a Dual Mode hybrid system and is available in two body styles: sedan and Touring wagon. This is already the second BYD hybrid vehicle to appear in Europe, following the successful launch of the Seal U DM-i, which has sold over one million units worldwide.
Customers in Spain will have access to two main trim levels. The Boost Blade Battery variant comes with a 10.08 kWh battery and delivers up to 135 kW (184 hp). This version boasts the maximum combined range according to WLTP—up to 1,505 km for the sedan and 1,350 km for the wagon. The Comfort Lite and Comfort modifications are equipped with a larger 19 kWh battery and increased power output of up to 156 kW (212 hp). In these versions, the electric-only range reaches 100 km, with a total range of 1,455 km for the sedan and 1,350 km for the Touring.
The Boost trim features 17-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable front seats and mirrors, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and an expanded set of electronic assist systems. The Touring wagon additionally comes with aluminum roof rails, a power tailgate, and a rear wiper. The top-end Comfort version is equipped with a larger 15.6-inch multimedia display and a heated steering wheel, while the Comfort Lite has a 12.8-inch screen.
The manufacturer positions the Seal 6 DM-i as an optimal solution for corporate clients and private individuals who prioritize electric driving in the city and the ability to make long-distance trips without frequent charging stops. BYD emphasizes that the Dual Mode technology combines the benefits of an electric vehicle with those of a traditional internal combustion engine car.
The new model measures 4.84 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width, and 1.495 meters in height. The wheelbase is 2.79 meters, providing a spacious interior for five occupants. The design follows the Ocean style, giving the car a dynamic and modern look while enhancing aerodynamics. The front features a grille inspired by ocean waves with an active air intake system. Crystal-effect LED headlights highlight the model’s signature style. The trunk volume is 491 liters, expanding to 1,370 liters with the rear seats folded, making the car practical for everyday needs.
The price of the Seal 6 DM-i for the Spanish market will be announced in the coming weeks, and orders will open before the end of the year.
