Korean KGM Torres Actyon Unveils Unexpected Challenge to European SUVs in Spain

What makes the new KGM flagship a potential game-changer among family crossovers

The KGM Torres Actyon has surprised experts with its unique blend of size, technology, and pricing. This new Korean SUV is taking on established market leaders. Discover what could surprise Spanish drivers in our review.

The arrival of the KGM Torres Actyon on the Spanish market could mark a turning point for the family crossover segment. The model, which the Koreans call their new flagship, immediately attracted attention not only for its size but also for its bold approach to features. As competition among D-class SUVs intensifies, cars like this are capable of shifting the balance of power.

The Torres Actyon stands out not only for its length, nearly five meters, but also for how the manufacturer set its priorities. Unlike the larger yet more utilitarian Rexton, this new model targets urban residents and families who value comfort, style, and modern technology. It’s not just another SUV — it’s the Korean brand’s bid to join the ranks of leaders, a space long dominated by Japanese and European brands.

Design and space

The exterior of the Torres Actyon immediately catches the eye: a massive radiator grille, unusual headlights with zigzag elements, and a completely redesigned rear. An LED strip crossing the trunk and split taillights create a sense of premium quality rarely found in this price segment.

The 20-inch wheels and impressive ground clearance suggest off-road ambitions, though most owners are unlikely to leave the pavement. Nevertheless, the approach and departure angles allow for confident driving even on country roads. Inside, the spacious cabin seats five, with a focus on rear passenger comfort. The rear seatbacks are adjustable across a wide range, and there is ample legroom and headroom even for tall passengers.

The trunk deserves special mention: 796 liters in the standard configuration and up to 1,568 liters with the seats folded down. For family trips or transporting bulky items, this becomes a strong argument in favor of choosing this model.

Technology and Equipment

The interior of the Torres Actyon reflects the latest trends: two 12.3-inch digital displays, an extensive settings menu, and a wide range of electronic driver aids. There are a total of 23 driver assistance systems, which really set the car apart from its competitors.

However, things are not entirely straightforward: some functions take time to get used to, and the unconventional steering wheel shape may raise concerns among those who value ergonomics. Still, the overall impression of the interior is one of modernity and a drive for premium quality, especially evident in the detailing and material quality.

The technology goes beyond the multimedia system. A key advantage is the hybrid powertrain, developed in cooperation with China’s BYD. This is not only a step towards eco-friendliness but also guarantees reliability, which is especially important for Spanish buyers accustomed to high quality standards.

Динамика и комфорт

The Torres Actyon is available with two engine options: a 163 hp turbocharged petrol engine and a 204 hp hybrid setup. The latter is particularly attractive for city dwellers thanks to its low fuel consumption—just 5.9 liters per 100 km according to the WLTP standard.

On the road, the car behaves like a typical representative of the comfort crossover class. Its soft suspension and moderate steering sharpness make it ideal for relaxed drives in the city and on highways. The transmission shifts smoothly and more quietly than many rivals, a feature especially appreciated by those tired of the loud hybrids of other brands.

Three driving modes—comfort, sport, and winter (or ECO for the hybrid)—let you adapt the vehicle’s behavior to different conditions. The hybrid version features three levels of regenerative braking, adding convenience for navigating heavy urban traffic.

Price and competitors

The Torres Actyon starts at €33,500 for the petrol version, reaching €37,500 for the hybrid. Compared to rivals like the Nissan X-Trail and Skoda Kodiaq, this offering is quite appealing given its level of equipment and spacious interior.

However, the fight for customers won’t be easy: the Spanish market traditionally remains loyal to trusted brands, and newcomers from Korea are still working to earn consumers’ confidence. Still, the combination of price, technology, and practicality could work in KGM’s favor, especially among young families and those seeking alternatives to familiar brands.

In the coming months, it will become clear whether the Torres Actyon can shift the balance of power in this segment and become a new favorite among Spanish car enthusiasts.

KGM is a South Korean automaker that has managed to strengthen its position significantly in the European market in recent years. The company is known for bold design choices and a focus on modern technology, allowing it to compete with well-established global brands. In Spain, KGM cars are gradually gaining popularity thanks to the combination of affordable prices, advanced features, and reliability. The Torres Actyon has become a symbol of a new development phase for the brand, reflecting its ambition to take a leading role in the family crossover segment.
