For example, the grant provides up to €1,795 for boarding, €913 for pedagogical re-education and another €913 for language re-education, as well as up to €617 for intercity transport. Book allowances range from €105 to €204, and a general subsidy of €400 is available to those who meet the specific criteria. Applications must be submitted through the official scholarship portal.
Extra Activities, Not Direct Aid
Another initiative, Tardes con Plan, does not provide direct financial support to families. Instead, it funds free after-school activities for children aged 6 to 16, with a focus on physical activity and nutrition, as well as rest and emotional well-being. These programs are mainly offered in public schools and community centers in vulnerable areas. The Ministry of Health reported that, as of July 2026, 95 programs were running across 28 provinces and serving more than 12,800 children and teenagers. The second round of funding, totaling more than €106 million, is open to non-profit organizations until September 30, 2026. Regional Book Aid: Closed for Now
In Castilla y León, the RELEO Plus program provides free textbooks for primary and secondary students. The scheme first distributes books from school banks; if supplies run short, families may receive up to €280 for basic students and €350 for secondary students. But, the application window for the 2026-2027 school year closed in December 2025, and the income threshold was set at €25,200 in family income for 2024. This aid is so unavailable to new applicants in September. Families who already applied should consult their school about book assignments or reimbursement procedures. Transport Support Varies by Region
Each autonomous community manages transport assistance, with no single national application. The Community of Madrid, for example, has previously offered between €260 and €1,100 per student per year, depending on the distance from home to school. The most recent information still refers to the 2025-2026 academic year, and new calls for 2026-2027 have not yet opened. Families should check regional education portals or ask municipal offices for updates, including through school communications. There is no unified national application for books, transport or extracurricular activities; as of September 1, 2026, only the grant for students with specific educational needs remains open.
