BMW has reached a milestone with its iX3 Neue Klasse, producing 50,000 units in just ten months. The electric SUV’s rapid success signals a turning point for the brand, as demand continues to surge and new benchmarks are set.

BMW has set a new benchmark in its history, rolling out the 50,000th unit of the iX3 Neue Klasse less than a year after production began. The electric SUV, assembled at the Debrecen plant in Hungary, has become the fastest-selling new model for the German automaker, outpacing all previous launches and marking a decisive shift in the company’s fortunes.

The iX3 Neue Klasse was introduced at a critical moment for BMW, as the brand faced internal restructuring and the termination of 8,000 contracts to address financial pressures. Yet, the arrival of this fully electric SUV has reversed the narrative. According to BMW, the iX3’s strong market reception has not only stabilized production lines but also set a pace unmatched by any other vehicle in the company’s portfolio.

Built on BMW’s new ‘Neue Klasse’ platform, the iX3 represents more than just a new model—it signals the start of a new design and engineering era for the brand. The SUV measures 4,782 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,897 mm. Under the hood, it delivers 469 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 210 km/h. Its 108.7 kWh battery provides an impressive range of up to 805 kilometers, while fast-charging technology allows for a 370-kilometer boost in only 10 minutes.

With a starting price of €69,900, the iX3 Neue Klasse is positioned as a premium electric SUV, combining performance, range, and advanced technology. The model’s rapid ascent is also reflected in BMW’s production targets: after reaching 50,000 units in just ten months, the company now aims to double that figure in the near future, driven by sustained demand across European markets.

The iX3’s momentum is part of a broader trend in the electric SUV segment, where competition is intensifying. Models like the Skoda Enyaq RS, Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Cupra Tavascan have also set high standards for everyday electric driving, as highlighted in a recent analysis of leading electric SUVs. However, BMW’s achievement with the iX3 Neue Klasse stands out for the speed and scale of its market impact.

Industry observers note that the success of the iX3 is not just a commercial milestone but a strategic turning point for BMW. The Neue Klasse platform is expected to underpin a new generation of electric models, shaping the brand’s identity and competitiveness in the years ahead. As the company targets the 100,000-unit mark, the iX3’s trajectory will be closely watched as a bellwether for BMW’s electric ambitions.
