Changan has introduced the updated Deepal S07 2026, with technical and design changes aimed at the European electric SUV market. The model gets an upgraded battery system and a more powerful motor, addressing earlier criticisms as it takes on established brands. Changan is also expanding Deepal’s European presence: Chine.in reported that the company presented its Changan, Deepal and Avatr brands in Germany on 21 March 2025. First introduced in 2023, the S07 has been offered in both battery-electric and range-extender forms.
The Deepal S07 keeps its dimensions, measuring 4.75 meters long, 1.93 meters wide and 1.62 meters high, but gets subtle exterior updates. The front lighting signature has been redesigned and new alloy wheels added. Body-colored side skirts and a front spoiler sharpen its appearance, while buyers can choose a two-tone roof and additional personalization options.
Inside, the S07 gets high-grade materials and careful assembly, giving the cabin a more premium feel. It remains spacious, with a 510-litre rear boot that expands to 1,385 litres when the rear seats are folded, plus a 125-litre front trunk. A 15.6-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and can tilt toward either the driver or passenger. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The biggest changes are technical. The new permanent-magnet synchronous motor delivers 258 hp, while average consumption is stated at 17.6 kWh/100 km under the WLTP cycle. The S07 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h. Its lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery has grown to 78 kWh, enabling a claimed range of up to 500 kilometers. Fast charging is rated at up to 200 kW DC. Changan says charging from 10% to 80% takes 24 minutes, or 15 minutes from 30% to 80%. AC charging is rated at 11 kW.
Market-specific reports broadly match the updated S07’s specifications, though they cite small differences in capacity and output. Mojelektromobil reported a 78-kWh battery and up to 500 km of WLTP range for the European model. For the S07 BEV presented at the 2026 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, Top Gear Philippines reported a 79.9-kWh battery, 255 hp and 320 Nm. It quoted the brand as highlighting “500km of range” from that battery. The outlet also reported a 15-minute DC charging time from 30% to 80%. These figures apply to specific market versions, not one universal specification.
Earlier European S07 versions had a different battery and performance profile. Instalki’s road test described a 79.97-kWh NMC battery, a quoted 475-km WLTP range and official consumption of 18.6 kWh/100 km. Across its 1,381-km test, average consumption was 18.8 kWh/100 km, rising to 22.6 kWh/100 km at motorway speeds. A charging session from 39% to 80% took 39 minutes and 32 seconds. Those results concern the earlier configuration, not the revised 78-kWh LFP model, and show why range and charging comparisons depend on the vehicle version and test conditions.
Changan has fitted the S07 with frequency-selective damping (FSD) shock absorbers to improve ride comfort, along with new 20-inch alloy wheels. The equipment also includes an augmented-reality head-up display and cooled wireless smartphone charging. The SUV comes with connected navigation and gesture controls, as well as a 360-degree camera system with a transparent-chassis view for parking and a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features.
In Spain, the Deepal S07 starts at €45,990 before incentives or promotional campaigns. Prices vary by market and listing: a separate Greek report puts the updated BEV at €38,990, while a 2026 Spanish listing gives an indicative price of €46,990. The vehicle has a seven-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty. Coverage for the high-voltage battery runs for eight years or 200,000 kilometers.
Changan has responded quickly to market feedback, especially compared with the slower update cycles of many European manufacturers. The approach echoes moves by other Chinese brands, including the SuperPanther eTopas electric truck, which began European assembly and deliveries earlier this year.
