Faro Santander will run Calaveritas literarias from 6 to 8 November 2026, introducing children aged 8 to 13 to Mexico’s humorous poetic tradition. Sessions start at noon, cost €10 and have room for 20 children.

A Día de Muertos altar will stand in the museum arch as Faro Santander marks the Mexican tradition from 28 October to 9 November. The programme also includes workshops for children aged 8 to 13.

The Calaveritas literarias sessions run from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November, starting at 12:00 each day. These short, humorous poems give children a way to remember people they love or share affectionate anecdotes.

Participants will also learn about the Catrina, or Calavera Garbancera, an emblematic figure that represents death in a festive, colourful way. The museum developed the workshops with Taller Limo.

The wider programme is inspired by the Colección Gelman Santander and organised in collaboration with Fundación Casa de México en España. Faro Santander’s event sits within Spain’s wider museum calendar, which has also included a Madrid Baroque exhibition tracing the city’s rise to court capital.

Each session lasts 120 minutes and has capacity for 20 children. Fundación Banco Santander is the organiser. The price is €10.
