The Congost river flooded an Expomotor warehouse in Granollers in early October 2026, destroying more than 113 vehicles used in film and television productions. Water rose above 1.2 metres inside the building. From 3 October, the Generalitat logged more than 360 litres of rain per square metre in Granollers.
Ferrari and Corvette models were damaged, along with Bentley vehicles.
José Manuel Reyes, who is responsible for Expomotor’s film vehicles, described the damage as total. The company says the flood ranks among the worst disasters it has faced. Water and mud affected more than 100 cars and motorcycles at the site. In some vehicles, water reached the engine compartment.
Expomotor is looking for spare parts and mechanics willing to help restore the vehicles. It also needs oils and antifreeze. Some cars have already been moved out, but large work remains.
The warehouse roof began to sag as crews cleared the remaining vehicles. Staff sped up the removal, then sorted the cars that had been taken out for assessment and repair.
Expomotor Auto Museum Film Services operates from Madrid, with bases in Barcelona and Bilbao. The company has more than 700 vehicles and runs its own transport network, backed by driving specialists and on-set technicians. Emol reports that the vehicles are spread across Spanish sites covering more than 15,000 square metres combined. The collection supplies cars that match the period a production requires.
Expomotor’s vehicles have appeared in Spanish and international productions. Credits include El confidente, Ruega por nosotros, La infiltrada, Torrente presidente and Las leyes de la frontera.
Offers of help have come from across Spain, including mechanics who have proposed a repair gathering. Reyes says the support moved him because Expomotor helped people affected by the October 2024 dana in the Valencian Community. He and colleagues spent several days doing rescue and clean-up work there. Reyes says the current damage could force the company to close or restructure.
The flooding hit the wider Vallès Oriental area, including Granollers, Vilanova del Vallès, Cardedeu and Montmeló.
A regional first-recovery operation ran from 5 to 12 October. More than 200 volunteers from 32 municipalities and the Red Cross took part, with coordination from nine Civil Protection specialists. Crews cleared mud and damaged trees, cleaned streets and buildings, unblocked storm drains and restored access routes. The regional operation ended while Expomotor continued assessing its vehicles.
