Geely had recorded 3,530 registrations in Spain by 1 October 2026. The rollout began with a single Starray EM-i handover in Majadahonda on 9 April, when Geely’s CEO delivered the keys and the brand logged its first Spanish registration.
Geely Auto began operating in Spain in March 2026, with Grupo Gamboa holding exclusive commercial representation in the Community of Madrid. The Madrid dealer group brought more than six decades of automotive experience to the launch, along with technical staff and after-sales facilities prepared for electrified vehicles. The first two Geely models marketed in Spain were the battery-electric E5 and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid. The launch strategy centered on electrification, backed by safety equipment and connectivity.
Gamboa handled the brand through four dealerships. Two were in Majadahonda and Alcorcón; the others were in Atocha and Leganés. In July, a public event marked the simultaneous delivery of 15 Geely vehicles to customers.
The Leganés site, in the Ciudad del Automóvil, covers more than 1,000 m² and was designed to Geely’s European standards. The company described it as the largest Geely dealership in Spain and one of only two facilities of that category in Europe.
Geely later extended sales to other distribution groups, ending Gamboa’s exclusive role. That shift came after the Madrid group established the brand’s initial retail presence during the launch period. In 2026, the Spanish range grew beyond the E5 and Starray EM-i to include the E2. Chery’s planned Exlantix entry into Spain marks a different stage of market expansion, covered in a separate report.
The Starray EM-i was Geely’s first model on sale in Spain. It is a 4.74-metre, five-seat plug-in hybrid with a 528-litre boot and front-wheel lead. Its maximum combined output is 262 CV, from a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. The 218 CV electric motor drives the wheels, while the combustion engine supports high-demand driving or generates electricity. In July, the Starray ranked second among plug-in hybrid models in Spain for monthly sales.
Buyers could choose between LFP batteries of 18.4 kWh and 29.8 kWh. The quoted WLTP electric ranges are 83 km and 136 km respectively. The Spanish line-up comprises Pro, Pro+ and Max+ trims: the Pro uses the smaller battery, while Pro+ and Max+ use the 29.8-kWh unit. Reported WLTP combined range reaches 1,002 km for the Pro and 1,055 km for the larger-battery versions; those versions are also listed with up to 184 km of electric range in urban use. A Pro+ specification lists average consumption of 1.4 litres per 100 km and CO₂ emissions of 32 g/km. Geely’s commercial warranty covers the vehicle and high-voltage battery for eight years or 200,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
Lanzadigital reported that the Starray EM-i and E5 received five-star Euro NCAP ratings. Reported equipment across the models includes driver-assistance systems and heat-pump climate control. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, alongside over-the-air updates and 360-degree cameras. The list also includes bidirectional vehicle-to-load charging. The Starray range has also been listed with DC charging of up to 60 kW, plus vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functions.
Reports placed Geely in 89 countries by October 2026. The E5 and E2 broadened the Spanish range with fully electric options alongside the Starray EM-i.
