Applications for the Imserso 2026–2027 travel program are now open, with prices unchanged and almost 880,000 places on offer. Pensioners and eligible seniors can apply until July 10, with priority for new participants and special rates for those with limited income.
From June 22, Spain's Imserso program has begun accepting new applications for its 2026–2027 subsidized travel season, keeping both the number of available places and the cost for participants unchanged. The application window, which runs until July 10, is open exclusively to those who have not previously traveled with Imserso, offering a rare opportunity for newcomers to secure a spot in one of the country’s most popular senior travel initiatives.
This year, the program maintains its allocation of 879,213 places, divided across three main categories: 440,284 for the peninsular coast, 228,142 for the islands, and 210,787 for short breaks and European-origin trips. The structure is designed to give pensioners and qualifying seniors access to affordable holidays, with prices ranging from €132 to €564 depending on destination, trip length, and whether transport is included. For example, an eight-day stay on the peninsular coast without transport starts at €224.63, while a ten-day trip with transfers can reach €309.22. Balearic and Canary Islands packages are similarly priced, with the highest rates reserved for longer stays and high season travel.
Eligibility is strictly defined. Applicants must be Spanish Social Security pensioners—either retired, widowed (aged 55+), or recipients of other qualifying benefits (aged 60+), or insured/beneficiaries aged 65 or older. Those who have already participated in previous Imserso seasons do not need to reapply; instead, they will receive a document confirming their details and destination preferences, which only needs to be returned if changes are required.
For first-time applicants, the process is straightforward. The fastest and most secure method is through the Imserso Electronic Office, where the online application for the 2026–2027 season can be completed. Alternatively, forms can be downloaded from the Imserso website and submitted via official electronic registries or by post to the Madrid address specified by the program. Notably, applications sent by regular mail must not be certified.
Imserso continues to reserve 7,447 places at a special rate of €50 for those whose income does not exceed the threshold for non-contributory pensions, provided they score highest on the program’s evaluation criteria. Additional supplements of €100 apply for second and subsequent trips within the same season, as well as for travel during peak periods.
While the Imserso travel program is a mainstay for many Spanish pensioners, it is not the only initiative catering to seniors’ needs.
