Nou Barris is turning La Mercè into a full local programme. Concerts lead the week, while Tasta Nou Barris brings five district establishments together and La Titellada adds puppetry from Tuesday.
Nou Barris will fill the final days of September with La Mercè events built around music, food and puppetry. Five concerts will be held at the plaça Major de Nou Barris from Friday onwards. The programme also includes Tasta Nou Barris and the return of La Titellada in several neighbourhood spaces. La Vanguardia's programme coverage says La Mercè 2026 will include more than 100 concerts across multiple venues and all ten Barcelona districts. Nou Barris is part of that wider effort to spread the festival across the city.
The main run of concerts belongs to La Mercè. OBC will perform on Friday. At midday on Saturday, Banda Simfònica de Roquetes and Banda de Mollet will take the stage. Banda Municipal de Barcelona will perform that afternoon. Orquesta de VOZES and pianist Marco Mezquida will close the series on Sunday. El Confidencial also lists the district among the festival's important music hubs, alongside the Orquestra i Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu, OBC and local wind ensembles.
La Mercè 2026 extends beyond the city centre: its programme distributes more than 100 concerts across all ten Barcelona districts, making Nou Barris part of the festival’s wider cultural decentralisation.
Thursday 24 is a public holiday. That is why the weekly agenda was published on Wednesday, with the main schedule starting on Friday. The first Mercè events in the district include the Pallassos sense Fronteres celebration at the parc de l'Aqüeducte. The Orquestra i Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu will also perform at the plaça Major de Nou Barris.
The food event is the programme's clearest new addition. Tasta Nou Barris will let visitors try creations from five district establishments. Catalan wines, live music and an informal setting will fill the courtyard of the Sede del Distrito. La Ciutat describes the event as a new district initiative to promote local food and wine. It is not simply another concert venue.
Tasta Nou Barris is scheduled for 26 September from 12:00 to 00:00 at the courtyard of the district headquarters, at Plaça Major de Nou Barris, 1. The event is free and does not require prior registration, combining food from five local establishments, Catalan wines and live music.
This offers a different kind of local forecast from an earlier weather report. The practical choice here is not where conditions are changing, but which neighbourhood event belongs on the weekend schedule.
The civic centres have their own events too. El Generador 9B has organised a punk concert at Can Basté on Friday. The Centre Cívic Zona Nord will host a circus show on Saturday. Casa de l'Aigua de Trinitat Nova and the Castell de Torre Baró will also hold environmental activities.
La Titellada will carry the cultural programme beyond the weekend. The festival is organised by Associació Titellaire de Roquetes and Centre Ton i Guida. It starts with a talk on Friday and a creation workshop on Monday. The most anticipated part begins on Tuesday. Puppet shows will be held every day until Sunday 4 in different neighbourhood spaces.
The agenda is unusually broad, but it stays focused on the district. La Mercè brings the large concerts. Tasta Nou Barris gives residents a shared place to eat and listen to music. La Titellada adds its own programme. Residents can choose a stage, a civic centre, an environmental event or a meal with music. Nou Barris offers a full week rather than one headline event.
