Miguel Tellado used a PP campaign event in Ávila to accuse Pedro Sánchez of leaving Spain worse than he found it. In Granada, Santiago Abascal attacked immigration and the Government’s healthcare policy.

At a rally in Granada, Vox leader Santiago Abascal claimed that access to Spain’s public healthcare system had been extended to everyone, including people without legal status. He linked this to delayed treatment for Spanish citizens. He made the allegations while presenting his party’s candidates in the province.

Abascal also blamed the Government for deaths he associated with Adamuz, the dana and the blackout. These were political accusations made at a campaign rally. He argued that support for immigration was incompatible with defending public services.

The remarks came during parallel campaign appearances by the leaders of Vox and the PP. In Ávila, PP secretary-general Miguel Tellado presented the party’s candidates for Congress and the Senate and defended its campaign slogan, “necessary change,” translated from Spanish, for the 29 November election.

Tellado accused Sánchez of taking office in 2018 with a functioning country and leaving it in worse condition. He said the Government had failed to improve any area and called it potentially the worst in Spain’s democratic period. Those were Tellado’s assessments.

He also invoked the Koldo case and the reported detention of a man identified as Sánchez’s driver during the 2017 Socialist primaries. Tellado connected the case to a Peugeot in which Sánchez travelled while seeking support from Socialist federations. José Luis Ábalos and Koldo García were among those accompanying him. Tellado also referred to former PSOE organisational secretary Santos Cerdán. The National Court operation on 5 November 2026 was conducted by the Civil Guard’s Central Operational Unit (UCO) under investigating judge Ismael Moreno, in a separate, secret strand of the case. Six people were detained, with activity in Madrid, Seville and Córdoba and a search at Ábalos’s home in Valencia. The court also sought documentation from rail-infrastructure administrator Adif and construction company Azvi. Those detained included Andrea de la Torre, identified as Ábalos’s partner, and businessman Cristian Corvillo, who was arrested in Córdoba. The PP described Corvillo as having driven Sánchez during the primaries. PSOE sources said he was never an official driver, while acknowledging that he may have driven Sánchez on some occasions. All six detainees were later released, and the investigation remained ongoing.

Tellado linked former Transport Minister Óscar Puente’s resignation to the deaths he referenced, saying it had come “115 deaths later,” translated from Spanish. He also accused the Government’s transport ministry under Ábalos and Puente of being marked by corruption. The claims were made at the Ávila event. During the campaign, Vox leader Santiago Abascal also described the Transport Ministry under Ábalos and Koldo García as “ground zero for Sánchez’s corruption,” a political accusation rather than a judicial finding.
