Failure in Espacio Zity Subscription Sales: Mass Refunds Due to Payment Blocks. The Espacio Zity subscription sales system failed under high demand. Some payments were blocked for cybersecurity reasons, and refunds are being automatically issued to customers.
The start of Espacio Zity season ticket sales for the Fiestas del Pilar in Zaragoza turned into a technical collapse. Within the first minutes after online sales opened at 18:00 on May 14, the system registered 140,000 purchase attempts, causing the external payment platform to overload. As a result, some transactions were blocked for cybersecurity reasons, and many users were left without tickets despite funds being withdrawn.
Organizers announced that all transactions in which money was withheld but tickets were not issued will be automatically refunded to buyers. The problem mainly affected those who tried to buy the most affordable subscriptions in the first minutes of sales. Most tickets were sold before the system crashed, but a significant number of users encountered technical errors and were unable to complete their purchases.
In response to the situation, Espacio Zity announced an additional sale of the remaining season tickets: on May 15 at 15:00, tickets will be available again on the website https://www.espaciozity.es/. There is a special rate of 105 euros for students and the unemployed, while for others, three price categories apply: 115, 125, and 135 euros. Each person is allowed to purchase no more than two season tickets, and only one for students and the unemployed. After purchase, the ticket must be exchanged for a special wristband that serves as a pass to the festival grounds, valid from October 9 to 17.
The full list of performers has not yet been revealed: Myke Towers, Viva Suecia, Malmö 040, and Blackworks have already been confirmed, while organizers promise to announce the remaining names later via social media and the official website. Technical failures at large-scale events are not unique: earlier in Valencia, teachers also faced difficulties in implementing new initiatives, which sparked a wave of discontent among educators, as noted in the report on the trade unions’ response to education reforms.
For reference: Espacio Zity is one of the largest venues of the Fiestas del Pilar, annually attracting tens of thousands of guests. In recent years, demand for passes has consistently outstripped supply, regularly leading to technical difficulties when sales begin. Organizers advise closely following updates on the website and social media to avoid missing new announcements and any changes to access rules.
