Zaragoza opens Fiestas del Pilar 2026 on 10 October with firefighters delivering the pregón from the Town Hall balcony. A sports parade and concerts will then spread activity across the city.

Interpeñas will begin its own pregón at 17:00 on 9 October in plaza de España. Unión Peñista follows at 18:30 in plaza Santa Engracia, giving the festival a head start before the official ceremony on Saturday.

At 18:30 on 10 October, the parade Zaragoza campeona will leave paseo María Agustín beside colegio Joaquín Costa. It will pass through Puerta del Carmen and avenida César Augusto before continuing along the Coso and calle Alfonso I to plaza del Pilar.

The procession is tied to Zaragoza's designation as Capital Europea del Deporte 2027. According to El Mundo, its format recalls Olympic opening ceremonies and celebrates the city's sporting achievements.

At 21:00, Bomberos de Zaragoza will take the balcony of Zaragoza City Hall in plaza del Pilar for the official pregón. The choice puts the Servicio Contra Incendios, de Salvamento y Protección Civil del Ayuntamiento at the centre of this year's ceremony, after representatives of Aragonese cinema led it in 2025. The body had previously been named Hijo Predilecto de Zaragoza.

Назначение пожарных стало публичным признанием работы Bomberos de Zaragoza и Protección Civil во время лесных пожаров, угрожавших Арагону летом 2026 года.

Mar Giménez, a singer from Zaragoza, will open the programme with El olor de Zaragoza. The firefighters will then read the pregón. José Antonio Labordeta's traditional Canto a la Libertad follows, before the rocket launch and fireworks complete the civic ceremony. ABC and El Periódico de Aragón report that live transmissions will also come from several locations.

For visitors, the main gathering point is plaza del Pilar. Live viewing will also be available in the Food Trucks area at Parque de San Pablo. Estación del Norte will host another viewing point, while Espacio Zity in Valdespartera comes with access conditions that should be checked in advance.

На время Pilar город планирует круглосуточную работу трамвая и два дополнительных маршрута-шаттла к Valdespartera, где проходит часть концертной программы. Это должно упростить доступ к удалённой площадке в вечер открытия.

Espacio Zity has a stated capacity of 20,000 people, so transport and crowd distribution will shape the evening as much as the stage programme. Zaragoza plans round-the-clock tram service during Pilar, along with two additional shuttle routes to Valdespartera, where part of the concert schedule is based.

Music takes over after the civic programme begins. Antonio Orozco is due on stage at 21:30 at the Ambar Fuente de Goya venue. Viva Suecia and Malmö 040 are scheduled at Espacio Zity from 21:00.

That setup differs from Barcelona's concert farewell, reported by Russpain. Zaragoza's first night uses several simultaneous stages and public gatherings, combining free civic events with ticketed commercial concerts.

The wider festival runs for nine official days, from 10 to 18 October, with almost a thousand activities, according to El Confidencial. Events are spread across plaza del Pilar, Valdespartera, the Auditorio and Pabellón Príncipe Felipe. Estación del Norte, Parque José Antonio Labordeta, district centres and other venues are also included.
