The live broadcast of the popular show “Vamos a ver” turned into a real battleground when one of its key staff members, Alessandro Lequio, took an unexpectedly tough stance. Instead of participating in the discussion on a hot topic concerning him, the Italian demonstratively refused to join the debate. He broke with the show’s usual format, requesting to speak only at the very end, which clearly displeased host Patricia Pardo and left the entire team at a loss.
The tense atmosphere in the studio was triggered by a recent interview given by Lequio’s former partner, Sonia Moldes, to another TV program. Serious allegations were made during the interview: allegedly, the aristocrat at one point intended to profit from selling intimate photos with Eugenia Martínez de Irujo. However, the Duchess of Montoro reacted to the news with complete indifference, making it clear that she was not at all concerned. Lequio, for his part, thought it only necessary to briefly apologize to Eugenia for dragging her name into this “messy story,” as he put it.
However, Patricia Pardo was not about to back down so easily and tried to pursue the topic further, but ran into a wall. Lequio cut her off, stating that his position, expressed the day before, was final and not open for discussion. His defiant tone did not faze the host, who responded that she disagreed with his opinion. After that, Lequio fell silent, allowing the other guests to speak. Pardo’s attempt to tease him with the phrase “You’re rather quiet today, Alessandro,” led to an open confrontation.
The Italian sharply put the host in her place, emphasizing that his role on the show was to express opinions, not to be interrogated. He added that if he sometimes answered questions, it should be seen as a gesture of courtesy, not as an obligation. Citing his thirty years of television experience, he made it clear that he had earned the status of an expert, not a punching bag. In response, Pardo reasonably remarked, “Except in those cases when you are the main character in the news, dear. What are we supposed to do? Not ask you questions?” Yet even this argument did not make Lequio budge from his uncompromising stance.
