A high-profile investigation into suspected corruption among senior politicians continues in Madrid. At the latest session of the Senate commission on the Koldo case, businesswoman Carmen Pano appeared. She once again confirmed that she personally delivered €90,000 in cash to the office of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), acting on the instructions of Víctor de Aldama.
This is already the 88th meeting of the commission, and public interest remains high. Pano exercised her right to remain silent, but emphasized that she stands by her previous statements made in court. She explained that, at this time, she prefers not to answer questions to avoid jeopardizing her own defense, as she is under separate investigation.
The hearings are taking place against the backdrop of a large-scale probe into possible commission-related fraud involving former minister José Luis Ábalos, his ex-advisor Koldo García, and former PSOE organizational secretary Santos Cerdán. All are at the center of attention over suspicions of receiving illicit payments.
Pano’s appearance is part of a series of interrogations scheduled for this week. Senators are working to determine how such a substantial sum ended up in the party office and who else may have been involved in the scheme. Meanwhile, Aldama’s partner has categorically denied any involvement in the transfer of funds, further fueling interest in the investigation.
In the coming days, new demonstrations and possibly unexpected developments are anticipated in this case, which has already become one of the most talked-about political scandals of the year in Spain.
