Two Men Arrested in Madrid for Daring 300,000-Euro Jewelry Heist

Thieves Disguised as Workers Stole Jewelry from Van—Police Solve the Crime

In central Madrid, two men disguised as delivery workers stole 44 boxes of jewelry from a van. They were apprehended after an investigation and brought before the court. The details of the robbery surprised even seasoned investigators.

In the heart of Madrid’s Salamanca district, police have arrested two men suspected of a major robbery. The perpetrators meticulously planned the operation, donning work uniforms to avoid raising suspicion among passersby and delivery workers. Their target was a van transporting jewelry from renowned brands valued at over 300,000 euros.

The incident occurred on the morning of October 21. The criminals had selected their target in advance and tailed the vehicle in a rental car registered to a third party. When the couriers left the van, one suspect stood guard while the other used special tools to break open the back door. In just a few minutes, they took off with 44 boxes of jewelry and fled the scene.

Police operation

The investigation began immediately after the theft was discovered. Officers carefully reviewed surveillance footage, traced the route of the rental car, and identified the suspects. Detectives learned that one was hiding in Madrid, while the other was in the small town of Chozas de Canales in Toledo province.

During the arrests, police seized more than 3,500 euros in cash from the men, along with items that could have been used in the crime. Both men were taken into custody and soon appeared in court. The investigation is ongoing to determine if there were any accomplices and to recover the stolen jewelry.

Crime details

According to police, the criminals acted quickly and efficiently. By wearing delivery worker uniforms, they avoided drawing attention and were able to approach the van without suspicion. It took only a few minutes to break open the door, after which they swiftly loaded the boxes of jewelry into their car and drove away.

The stolen jewelry belonged to several well-known jewelry companies. The damages exceed 300,000 euros, making this one of the biggest robberies in Madrid in recent years. Authorities do not rule out the possibility that those arrested may be linked to other similar crimes.

Arrest and aftermath

After detaining the suspects, police continue to search for the stolen valuables. Investigators are examining possible channels for selling the jewelry and determining whether the criminals had accomplices. Both suspects have already given their initial statements, but the details of the investigation have not yet been disclosed.

Legal proceedings in the case are just beginning. It will soon be known whether the stolen jewelry can be returned to its owners and whether charges will be brought against other individuals linked to the robbery.
