On December 21, 2025, Extremadura witnessed a busy election day. From early morning, residents flocked to polling stations in Cáceres and Plasencia. People arrived with families, friends, and some came alone. By the time the polls opened, lines had already formed at many locations, but no one was rushed or anxious: voters patiently waited their turn to cast their ballots.
Particular attention was drawn to footage featuring Vox party candidate Óscar Fernández. He was seen at Castra Caecilia school in Cáceres, personally dropping his ballot into the box. Other voters were present at that moment, clearly interested in what was happening. The atmosphere at the polling station was businesslike, yet a certain sense of ceremony remained.
Throughout the day, postal workers delivered envelopes containing votes sent in advance. These ballots were carefully handed over to the election committee members working at Castra Caecilia and Suárez Somonte schools in Mérida. The process ran smoothly and efficiently, with both observers and voters noting its organization and precision.
The polling stations were marked by an atmosphere of calm and respect. People discussed the latest news and shared their impressions of the candidates, but generally tried not to distract each other from the main task. Many took photos as they cast their ballots — for some, it was a moment worth remembering.
In Plasencia and Cáceres, as in other cities of the region, electoral commissions began their work without delays. Commission members noted that turnout this year was higher than expected. This was especially noticeable in the morning hours, when those who wanted to vote before the workday started arrived at the polling stations.
Overall, Election Day in Extremadura passed without any incidents. Police officers were on duty on the streets and near the schools housing polling stations, but their intervention was not required. Residents noted that the voting process was very well organized, and the atmosphere was as welcoming as possible.
As RUSSPAIN.COM reported earlier, on the eve of the elections, candidates in Extremadura spent the silent day in different ways: some devoted it to family, some went to church, while others harvested crops. Read more about how politicians spent this special day in our previous article.
