In Spain, preparations for New Year’s Eve always start well before the final countdown. Each TV channel strives to surprise viewers and attract the largest possible audience to their broadcast. This year, the battle for ratings promises to be especially intense: the hosts have already been announced, and some channels are gearing up with unexpected surprises.
National and regional TV channels have chosen their stars to accompany Spaniards in the final minutes of the outgoing year. Hosts, locations, and even show formats are all being discussed on social media, sparking lively debates among fans.
Main Faces of La 1
For a long time, the national broadcaster La 1 (TVE) kept viewers guessing due to the absence of Andreu Buenafuente, who was unable to return to work. Ultimately, the network decided to entrust the show to Chenoa and the duo Estopa. This surprised viewers, as they had never appeared together in this format before. Special attention was also given to the musical guest: for the first time in years, La Oreja de Van Gogh will perform on stage with Amaia Montero, sparking a wave of excitement and discussion among fans of Spanish music.
A Trio on Antena 3
Antena 3 is sticking to tradition: Cristina Pedroche and Alberto Chicote will return to the broadcast, but this time they’ll be joined by Santiago Segura. This is the first year the regular duo becomes a trio. Segura has promised to reveal a mystery live on air, while Pedroche’s fans are speculating about her outfit—a question that, year after year, becomes one of the main talking points in Spanish media and on social networks.
This year, La Sexta will not air a separate New Year’s program. Instead, the channel will broadcast the same show as Antena 3, featuring the same hosts. The move aims to unite audiences and make the event as large-scale as possible.
Telecinco unveils new formats
Telecinco is set to surprise viewers not only with its choice of hosts but also with a new broadcast location. This holiday season, Sandra Barneda, known for “La isla de las tentaciones,” and popular influencer Xuxo Jones will host the show. Instead of the traditional Puerta del Sol in Madrid, the broadcast will come from the Marchica aperitif center in Formigal. This choice of venue has already sparked lively debate among the channel’s fans.
Regional channels
Regional TV channels are also joining the festive broadcast lineup. In Madrid, Telemadrid will be hosted by Mónica Martínez, Poty Castillo, and Irene from the show “El Camping.” Catalonia’s TV3 has invited Laura Escanes and Miki Núñez. In Andalusia, Canal Sur will feature Toñi Moreno and Enrique Moreno.
In the Canary Islands, Eloísa González, Elvis Sanfuel, and Mayer Trujillo will set the festive mood. In Galicia, TVG’s Eva Iglesias will be joined by three more hosts whose names remain a mystery for now. In the Basque Country, EITB’s broadcast is entrusted to Sara Gándara, África Baeta, Ilaski Serrano, and Xabier Usabiaga.
In the Valencian Community on À Punt, María Fuster and Ferran Cano will appear. In Murcia, 7TV will be hosted by Óscar Martínez and Kika Frutos. In Aragón, Blanca Liso and the team of ‘El campo es nuestro’ will address viewers on Aragón TV. In Castilla-La Mancha (CMM), the presenters will be Mariló Leal, Carlos Macías, and Lucía Escribano.
In Extremadura, Canal Extremadura has entrusted the broadcast to Sandra Majada, Raúl Otero, and Blanca García. On the Balearic Islands, IB3 will feature David Ordinas and Magdalena Serra. In Asturias, RTPA will be hosted by Ana Francisco and Alberto Rodríguez.
