Dongfeng’s Vigo SUV arrives in Spain at 26,615 euros, offering over 300 kilometers of range and rapid charging. The model aims to shake up the electric car market with its technology and aggressive pricing.

Dongfeng has entered Spain’s electric car market with the Vigo, a fully electric SUV priced at 26,615 euros. The company introduced the Vigo in Madrid during its first Dongfen Day, where it also presented the new plug-in hybrid MAGE PHEV, which starts at 28,740 euros. Both models join the Dongfeng BOX, which is already available in Spain. Spanish business media note that this launch is part of Dongfeng’s broader plan to expand in Europe.

The Vigo is aimed at drivers who want both practicality and new technology. It uses a 120 kW (163 CV) motor and delivers 230 Nm of torque, powered by a 51.87 kWh LFP battery. The car has a certified range of up to 340 kilometers in mixed driving and up to 521 kilometers in city conditions. For charging, the Vigo supports DC fast charging at up to 167 kW, letting the battery go from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes under ideal conditions. Independent Spanish automotive outlets report that these specs make the Vigo a strong option in the B-SUV segment, with a length of about 4.3 meters.

Dongfeng offers a 7-year or 300,000 km warranty on the Vigo in Spain, with up to 10 years of unlimited mileage coverage for the high-voltage battery and electric drive system.

The Vigo also focuses on space and flexibility. The rear cargo area holds 500 liters, and this can more than double when the back seats are folded down. There is also a 49-liter front compartment. The split rear hatch stands out: the lower section folds flat and can support loads over 150 kilograms, which is unusual for this class of car.

Inside, the Vigo comes with a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, an 8.88-inch LCD instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, and a 360-degree camera system. It also includes a range of driver assistance features, aiming to compete with established European and Asian brands on both equipment and price.

Dongfeng’s launch comes as competition in Spain’s electric vehicle market heats up. The Vigo follows other new arrivals, such as the Geely E2, which was recently reported as undercutting many brands on price. The Vigo, however, is positioned as more than just a budget choice, offering a mix of technology and value.

Dongfeng entered the Spanish market in June 2024 through importer Grupo Salvador Caetano and aims to reach a 1.5% market share by 2029, focusing on electrification and expanding its model range. The company currently has 25 official dealers in Spain, with plans to grow to 30 by the end of the year and 45 by 2027.

According to Google/SpainAuto, the Vigo’s launch shows Dongfeng’s intent to challenge established brands in Spain’s SUV market. Its combination of range, charging speed, and price could push both traditional automakers and newer competitors to adjust their strategies. For Spanish buyers, the Vigo brings more choice and sets a new standard for what an electric SUV can offer at this price. As Reuters and other European market reports note, the arrival of Chinese brands like Dongfeng is increasing price competition in Spain’s EV sector, making the Vigo’s debut especially notable.
