Spanish buyers can now choose between Dongfeng’s VIGO and MAGE PHEV, with extensive equipment and a choice of color. The fully electric VIGO starts at 26,615 euros, while the MAGE PHEV, Dongfeng’s first plug-in hybrid for Spain, starts at 28,740 euros. Both come with a seven-year warranty and up to ten years of battery coverage, putting established competitors in the brand’s sights.
Those prices aren’t the full sticker price. Spanish automotive outlets report that they include launch deals and government incentives. The official base price is 31,990 euros for the MAGE PHEV and 29,990 euros for the VIGO; discounts and subsidies bring the advertised prices down. Reports from El Diario and Coches.net say Dongfeng aims to compete with rivals on price and equipment in the electrified SUV market. The company already had a presence in Spain with the electric Box, and these models broaden its local lineup.
The MAGE PHEV is a 4.69-meter SUV designed for families. It pairs a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of 220 kW (299 CV). Its 17 kWh battery provides up to 89 kilometers of electric-only range (WLTC), while total range reaches 1,200 kilometers. A 22 kW DC charger takes the battery from 30% to 80% in 31 minutes. The cabin has a 14.6-inch touchscreen alongside digital gauges. Apple CarPlay is included, as are driver aids such as adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. The boot holds 525 liters, or 1,846 liters with the seats folded down.
The VIGO is aimed at city drivers. At 4.31 meters long, it is compact but has a roomy cabin. Its design follows the “Fun Magic Cube” idea, pairing sharp lines with practical features such as a split rear tailgate. The top half opens independently for tight spaces; the lower half folds down and can serve as a seat or table, supporting up to 150 kg. The boot holds 500 liters, or 1,040 liters with the seats folded. There’s also a hidden 72-liter compartment and a 49-liter front trunk. The front seats fold nearly flat, creating a two-meter-long space for cargo or rest.
The VIGO has a 120 kW (163 CV) permanent-magnet electric motor driving the front wheels. Its 51.87 kWh LFP battery provides up to 521 kilometers of range in the city and 340 kilometers combined. At a compatible DC station, the VIGO can charge from 30% to 80% in about 18 minutes using its 167 kW charging system. Buyers get 17-inch alloy wheels as standard; 18-inch wheels are available as an option. The VIGO costs 26,615 euros outright or from 139 euros a month with financing.
Dongfeng is also growing its dealer network in Spain. It currently has 25 locations and plans to reach 30 by the end of 2026, then 45 in 2027. The expansion fits the brand’s broader strategy to become one of the top Chinese automakers in the Spanish market.
On the road, the MAGE PHEV responds quickly to the throttle. Comfort mode softens the ride, while Sport mode unlocks the full 292 CV for strong acceleration. The hybrid system uses electric power in the city and switches to petrol on highways. Multilink suspension and electric steering deliver a stable, comfortable lead. The MAGE is tuned for stability rather than sporty handling.
The VIGO feels refined for its size. Its McPherson front suspension and rear torsion bar handle bumps well, especially at the front. In city traffic, the light electric steering is easy to use, though it feels softer at higher speeds. Drivers can select Eco or Comfort; Sport sharpens the throttle. Regenerative braking is smooth, while four-wheel disc brakes provide good stopping power. The basic ergonomic flaw: the steering wheel adjusts for height but not reach.
Dongfeng’s move into Spain comes as more Chinese automakers enter Europe. As reported earlier, Chinese hybrid SUVs are already changing what Spanish buyers want. Dongfeng’s pricing and equipment could speed up that shift.
With the VIGO and MAGE PHEV, Dongfeng is doing away with the usual extras and short warranties: buyers only need to choose a color. Its equipment and pricing give the brand a strong position in Spain’s changing SUV market, and established automakers could face pressure if the driving experience lives up to the specifications.
