Kia has launched the Sportage Black Edition in Spain, adding a distinctive option to its compact SUV lineup. The special edition pairs bold black styling and extensive equipment with a wide choice of powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.
The Black Edition’s exterior features glossy black finishes on the grille, exterior moldings, mirror caps, roof rails, window trim, bumpers and underbody protection. The Kia and Sportage badges are also finished in black, while dark metallic trim on the grille adds contrast. LED headlights are standard, with matrix LED units available as an option. Glossy black alloy wheels come in 17-, 18- or 19-inch sizes. Buyers can order the model in Wolf Grey, featured in the launch images, or choose one of nine other colors: Clear White, Deluxe White, Pearl Black, Lunar Silver, Penta Metal, Blue Flame, Experience Green, Ivory Silver Matte and Magma Red.
Inside, the dark theme continues with a black headliner and a panoramic dual 12.3-inch display as standard. Ambient lighting is optional. Buyers can choose Misty Grey seats combining synthetic leather and suede, or Black Leather seats made with genuine leather and suede.
The Sportage Black Edition comes with a broad choice of powertrains. The range starts with a 1.6-liter T-GDI petrol engine producing either 150 hp or 180 hp, paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Depending on the configuration, buyers can choose front-wheel or all-wheel lead.
For lower emissions and the Spanish DGT’s ECO label, the Black Edition is also available with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel mild hybrid (MHEV) producing 136 hp. This version comes with a manual or automatic gearbox, but only with front-wheel lead.
The full hybrid Sportage combines the 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 239 hp. It uses a six-speed automatic transmission and can be ordered with front-wheel or all-wheel lead. It also qualifies for the ECO label.
The most powerful option is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV), which pairs the 1.6 T-GDI engine with a larger battery and electric motor to produce 288 hp. It offers up to 65 kilometers of electric-only range and carries the Zero Emissions label. The PHEV comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and, for the first time in this configuration, is available with front-wheel or all-wheel lead.
With distinctive design and a broad range of electrified engines, the Sportage Black Edition is positioned as a premium alternative in Kia’s SUV lineup. It joins existing trims such as Concept, Lead, Tech and GT-Line, and goes on sale in Spain from July 10, 2026.
