At the Special Operations Command military base in Mukhrovani, near Tbilisi, multinational special forces drills called ‘Traces of Troy 2026’ have begun. According to Georgia’s Ministry of Defense, the exercises involve servicemen from special operations units of Georgia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, and Romania.
These exercises are being held in Georgia for the fourth time and bring together the experience of various armies. The Georgian side is represented by the ranger battalion of the Special Operations Command, the eastern and western battalions of the special operations forces, volunteer detachments, National Guard reconnaissance companies, and territorial reserve personnel.
The organizers are the U.S. European Command Special Operations Forces and the Special Operations Forces of the Georgian Armed Forces. The main goal of the maneuvers is to practice cooperation between units from different countries, to exchange tactical experience, and to improve combat readiness.
According to the Ministry of Defense, such drills not only strengthen military cooperation but also improve skills for working in a multinational environment. For Georgia, participation in such projects is an opportunity to integrate modern training standards and to strengthen defense capabilities.
Joint exercises with military personnel from NATO and EU countries are becoming a regular practice for Georgia. This reflects the country's efforts to expand international military partnerships and strengthen its own security in the region.
