BYD is launching an updated Atto 3 on the Chinese market—a model already familiar in Spain, but now receiving a significantly more advanced version in China. The main innovation is the introduction of the second-generation Blade battery and the Flash Charging 2.0 system, which allows charging from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. According to Car News China, sales are set to start on May 21, although BYD has not yet officially confirmed this.
In China, this SUV is known as the Yuan Plus. The new version comes with a 68.5 kWh battery, supporting up to 630 km of range according to the optimistic Chinese CLTC cycle. For those seeking maximum power, there is a 326-hp version. A more affordable variant is also available: 272 hp, a 57.5 kWh battery, and up to 540 km of range.
Technology and comfort
The updated Atto 3 has received not only a new battery, but also an expanded set of technologies. Among them are the semi-autonomous driving system God's Eye C ("God's Eye") with the option to install LiDAR, as well as the TBC stabilization system, which helps keep the vehicle on course in case of a tire blowout at high speed. The interior features a 15.6-inch rotating multimedia panel, a panoramic roof, a built-in refrigerator, and the so-called "queen's seat" for the front passenger—an option designed for added comfort.
Externally, the Yuan Plus has grown slightly: its length is now 4.66 m, width 1.89 m, height 1.67 m, and the wheelbase is 2.77 m. The design remains recognizable but now features slimmer headlights, an updated front bumper, and new rear lights. New wheel options are also available. The BYD e platform and new electric architecture provide the model with up-to-date technical capabilities.
Prices and market dynamics
BYD has not yet officially announced prices, but dealer sources cite a starting price of 120,000 yuan (just over €15,000) for the 540 Leading version. The 540 Beyond trim is expected to cost 130,000 yuan (around €16,280), and the top 630 Beyond version is estimated at 140,000 yuan (about €17,500). A 630 version with extended options is also expected for 150,000 yuan (up to €18,800). The optional LiDAR for God's Eye C costs 12,000 yuan (€1,500).
According to DataTrackter, in March 2026 BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) sales in China totaled 6,540 units — up 252.8% from February but down 67.6% from the previous year. In April 2025, 12,286 vehicles were registered, with a peak in June 2025 at 13,168 units sold. In the second half of the year, demand dropped below 10,000 units per month.
Market context
The advent of such rapid charging and extended range may strengthen BYD’s position in the domestic market, where competition among electric vehicles is growing ever fiercer.
