A trial has begun in Madrid that could change the fate of two well-known TV hosts—Makoke and Kiko Matamoros. Both are charged with financial crimes related to asset concealment and attempts to evade tax obligations. Prosecutors are seeking actual prison sentences and significant financial penalties, underscoring the seriousness of the charges.
Case documents show the investigation covers the period from 2009 to 2014, when Makoke and Kiko Matamoros were active on television and receiving stable incomes. Investigators believe that their earnings allowed for timely repayment of tax debts, but this did not occur. Instead, according to the prosecution, they organized a scheme to divert assets and create the impression of having no funds.

Prosecutors are demanding a five and a half year prison sentence for Kiko Matamoros and four years for Makoke. In addition to jail time, they face heavy fines: €33,000 for Kiko Matamoros and €30,750 for Makoke. The accused must also pay compensation to the tax authorities: €636,697 for Kiko Matamoros, and Makoke must pay €471,900 jointly with him.
Particular attention is given to a property purchase in 2011. That year, the couple bought a house in Pozuelo de Alarcón for €1,315,750, registered in Makoke’s name. After their divorce, she remained the sole owner, leading to a separate dispute between the former spouses. Investigators believe these actions were part of a strategy to conceal assets from tax authorities.
Schemes and allegations
The indictment notes that Kiko Matamoros had no official income and owned no assets, which, according to the prosecutor’s office, indicates a deliberate attempt to create the appearance of lacking financial resources. It is alleged that a company was set up specifically to formally ‘cleanse’ assets. Investigators believe that such a scheme would have been impossible without the participation of Makoke, which is why she is considered an accomplice.
Makoke, meanwhile, has publicly stated that she does not consider herself guilty and is confident in her position. She stressed that she has fully complied with all tax obligations and has no debts to the state. She described the situation as a severe ordeal, adding that public and media attention has only increased the pressure.
