The authorities of Asturias have announced the launch of a special program aimed at supporting domestic tourism in rural areas. From September to December 2025, residents and visitors of the region will be able to use a new digital voucher that will significantly reduce accommodation costs in rural houses and apartments.
The essence of the initiative is that any adult holding a Spanish document can purchase an electronic certificate with a face value of 150 euros for just 75 euros. The remaining amount is covered by the regional budget. This approach aims to make trips to rural Asturias more accessible to a wide audience, especially in the off-season when tourist traffic traditionally decreases.
The bonus is issued digitally and contains a unique QR code. It can be used as an e-wallet: the amount is gradually deducted when booking accommodation until it is fully spent. It can be used to pay for either one long trip or several short ones, provided each stay lasts at least two nights. For groups of friends or families, it is possible to combine two bonuses in one booking, which is especially convenient for traveling together.
The program applies only to specific properties participating in the project: these include rural houses, apartments, and other accommodations focused on eco-friendly and traditional tourism. In this way, the region aims to highlight the uniqueness of the local nature and cultural heritage, as well as strengthen Asturias’ image as a “Natural Paradise.”
To obtain the bonus, only a minimal set of information is required: phone number, postal code, and identification. Each participant can receive no more than two certificates per year, allowing up to 150 euros in travel savings. Regional authorities note that refunds are not available, and the bonus is valid only within the campaign dates, so it is recommended to plan trips in advance.
Special attention has been paid to ease of use: the bonus can be obtained and downloaded instantly on devices running Apple or Android operating systems. To receive the discount, simply present the QR code when checking into the selected accommodation, after which the amount is automatically deducted from the total stay cost.
In addition to the financial benefit, the initiative aims to increase the length of stay in rural areas. If a traveler uses two bonuses, they can apply them to one extended trip, for example, for four nights. This approach encourages local business development and supports the economies of small towns.
