In one of Barcelona’s districts, Sant Martí, police detained a man who had previously worked at a local gaming club. He is suspected of stealing €52,000 from the club’s safe by using access codes he personally altered.
The incident occurred at the end of April 2025. Club staff discovered the large sum missing, despite there being no signs of forced entry or a triggered alarm. Surveillance footage showed a person carefully concealing their identity: wearing a long coat, hat, mask, and even using an umbrella to block the cameras. The individual moved confidently through the premises, clearly knowing the locations of the cameras and how to avoid them.
During the investigation, it was established that the former employee had, before leaving the job, changed the passwords on one of the safes, setting his birthdate as the code. In addition, he created special combinations to disable the security system, allowing him to enter and take the money without hindrance.
In the fall, police launched an operation to detain the suspect. At the beginning of October, he was found and his apartment was searched, where €9,000 in cash was discovered. Just two days after his arrest, the man appeared in court. Investigators are still trying to determine what happened to the rest of the stolen funds and whether he had accomplices.
