In La Rioja, Civil Guard officers have arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of committing several serious crimes against a minor. According to the investigation, he met the girl through social media, then held her against her will and committed violent sexual acts. The man is also accused of endangering the teenager’s life and resisting police officers.
The investigation began after the girl’s parents contacted the police to report her disappearance. Investigators immediately began analyzing the missing girl’s mobile phone. They found numerous messages with explicit and aggressive content, as well as video recordings depicting sexual violence and domination. All of this material was sent by an adult man who had contacted the minor online.
How the suspect was identified
In his messages, the man repeatedly emphasized the age difference between himself and the girl, openly sexualizing their conversations. Along with text messages, he also sent videos to the teenager portraying brutal and humiliating scenes. These clues allowed authorities to quickly identify the sender and begin searching for him.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was registered in Granada and already under judicial supervision. He was subject to a special oversight order by the court of Terrassa (Barcelona) due to involvement in a previous case of sexual assault against another minor, who was 15 years old at the time of the crime.
Arrest and release of the victim
When law enforcement contacted the man by phone, he confirmed he was with the missing girl but refused to disclose her whereabouts or cooperate with the police. This only heightened fears for the teenager’s safety and wellbeing.
After a series of operational measures, the man was apprehended. The girl was freed and returned to her parents. The detainee now faces multiple criminal charges, including unlawful detention, sexual assault, corruption of a minor, and disobedience to authorities.
Previously convicted and facing new charges
Investigators paid particular attention to the fact that the detainee already had a conviction for similar offenses. The courts had previously imposed supervision measures, yet this did not prevent him from committing another serious crime. The man now faces a lengthy prison sentence.
The case sparked widespread public outcry and reignited concerns about the safety of minors online, as well as the need for stricter oversight of individuals previously convicted of crimes against children.
