The fourth round of MotoGP™ — Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain — has kicked off in Jerez. Already in Friday practice, the fight for a spot in Q2 intensified: this is where the chances for successful qualifying and strategic positions on the grid are determined. Riders aggressively attacked the track to break into the top ten and avoid having to go through additional selection.
The best time of the day was set by the Gresini rider, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi. This result came as a surprise to many, given the closeness of the field and the fast pace of the competitors. All four Noale riders again found themselves among the Q2 contenders, confirming the team’s consistent form at this stage.
Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin noted the intensity of the day and the fierce battle with Ducati, who continue to set the pace in the championship. At the same time, for the first time this season, ‘The Shark’ found himself outside the top ten and will have to start from Q1 — a serious challenge and reason to reconsider tactics for the favorite.
Friday’s practice ended dramatically: the fight for a place in the top ten lasted until the final seconds. Riders admitted that competition this year is especially fierce, and every lap can be crucial for the final starting order.
Spanish riders and their home round
For the Spanish entrants, the round in Jerez holds special significance. Three local riders said that racing on the iconic track inspired them to choose a career in MotoGP™. Home support and the atmosphere in the stands provide extra motivation, but also increase the pressure — especially in light of last year’s successes.
The winner of last year’s Spanish Grand Prix and last season’s runner-up has yet to step onto the podium in 2026. He continues adapting to the new version of the Ducati, which is reflected in his results and requires extra effort in every race.
Recovery and unexpected twists
One of the Spanish riders, who recently returned after an injury, has already made his mark: two consecutive podiums and a sprint victory in 2026 allowed him to get ahead of his recovery schedule. At the same time, he humorously recalled the amusing moment of his celebration at COTA, which generated buzz among fans.
Attention to MotoGP™ in Spain is traditionally high, and the fight for spots in qualifying reminds everyone of the intense competition and unpredictability of the championship. Just as in the decisive match between Levante and Sevilla in La Liga, here every second and every decision can change the final balance of power.
