
On the evening of April 18, in the Latina district of Madrid, a two-year-old child sustained severe injuries after being struck by a car. According to El Pais, the boy was crossing José de Cadalso street in an area not designated for pedestrians when he was hit by a passenger vehicle. The incident occurred around 19:30 and immediately drew the attention of the city’s emergency services.
Samur-Protección Civil staff quickly arrived at the scene. Paramedics stabilized the child’s condition, performed intubation, and diagnosed a severe traumatic brain injury. After receiving initial medical assistance, the boy was transported in critical condition to Niño Jesús Hospital, which specializes in pediatric care.
Madrid police initiated a formal report regarding the incident and provided an escort for the medical convoy to ensure the fastest and safest transfer of the injured child to the hospital. National police officers also took part, offering assistance at the scene of the accident.
The reasons why the child was on the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk are currently being investigated. Authorities emphasize that the investigation is ongoing and have not yet released details about the driver or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The incident has raised concerns among residents of the Latina district, where road safety remains a pressing issue. According to El Pais, such incidents highlight the importance of following traffic rules and the need for increased monitoring of traffic in Madrid’s residential areas.
