In the evening, TVE aired some of the most direct statements about the work of television in recent times. La Hora de La 1 host Silvia Intxaurrondo appeared as a guest on the program Al cielo con ella, where she not only spoke about her professional stance but also openly addressed political pressure and the quality of information on public television.
During the interview, Intxaurrondo emphasized that the La Hora de La 1 team no longer focuses on competitors and is instead concentrating on their own product. According to her, the program’s success allows them to disregard external ratings. The host paid special attention to the issue of honesty: she confidently stated that on La 1 they provide “information honestly,” despite criticism and accusations of bias.
Criticism of Politicians and Information Policy
Intxaurrondo also touched on the topic of some politicians refusing to participate live on air. She noted that representatives of the Partido Popular have long declined interviews on La Hora de La 1, which, in her view, is an attempt to put pressure on the editorial team. The host also commented on the activity of politicians in social networks, especially on TikTok, where, in her words, controversial statements are often made and should be closely monitored.
The interview also touched on the information policy of TVE. Inchaurrondo emphasized that despite accusations of a “government tone” and complaints from colleagues within the corporation, she continues to adhere to principles of transparency and professionalism. As an example, she cited situations with parties who, in her view, should not always be given airtime on national television if their rhetoric contradicts broadcasting standards.
Personal experience and new projects
The host also spoke about her experience as a writer. Her first published novel received positive feedback, and Inchaurrondo is now working on her second book. She admitted she cannot reveal details of the new project in order not to compromise her own professional standards, but promised that readers will once again experience strong emotions.
During the conversation, Inchaurrondo also touched on the international agenda, particularly the situation in Palestine, describing what is happening as “genocide” and noting that the situation has only worsened recently. According to her, journalists have to deal with a flow of disinformation and threats, which makes broadcasting even more of a responsibility.
Context and comparison with other projects
The appearance of Inchaurrondo on Al cielo con ella became part of TVE’s strategy to attract attention to its evening programming. Previously, the channel focused on Marc Giró, but now the emphasis has shifted to hosts with strong personalities and recognizable styles. Such moves have already been seen on Spanish television: for example, the launch of new seasons of popular shows, as was the case with the tenth season of ‘La isla de las tentaciones’,, was also accompanied by a change in format and a greater focus on the hosts’ individual presence.
