A mass brawl among PSG ultras on one of France’s highways led to the cancellation of an organized fan trip for the match against Angers. The incident occurred on Saturday, when several buses carrying fans were heading to the Raymond-Kopa stadium. According to Ici Paris Île-de-France, the conflict broke out at one of the stops, where a fight erupted between groups of Parisian ultras.
As a result of the incident, most PSG fans were forced to return to Paris, leaving the away section of the stadium almost empty. Around 800 organized supporters were expected to attend the game, but after the incident, the majority of the buses turned back. The match was held with noticeably reduced support from visiting fans, which came as a surprise to both teams.
Local media note that internal disagreements among PSG ultras have previously led to similar situations. This time, the conflict escalated to such an extent that organizers decided to cancel the further movement of the fan convoy. According to Ici Paris Île-de-France, it was the brawl on the highway that caused the cancellation of the trip.
The situation with the cancellation of organized support at away matches is not unique to French football. Previously in Spain, there have also been cases where internal conflicts among fan groups led to disrupted events and changes in security measures. For example, in Barcelona, after a tragic incident on the railway, police increased control at mass events, which was covered in detail in the report on fatal incident at Castellbisbal station.
