The Mercedes GLB 2026 immediately stands out among other SUVs: the model combines compact dimensions with seating for up to seven people and offers rapid charging that delivers a range of 260 km in just 10 minutes. This approach redefines the concept of family electric vehicles, making them more practical for daily use and long-distance travel. With growing competition in the EV market, such features are becoming decisive for buyers.
The new GLB is built on the MMA platform, already familiar from other models in the brand’s lineup. Its exterior remains recognizable but now sports fresh details: a larger grille, LED headlights with the signature star, and new taillights. The electric version features a closed grille with 84 illuminated stars, while the hybrid gets an open grille with contour lighting. The door handles are now recessed into the body, improving both aerodynamics and safety. They are mechanical, ensuring they open even in the event of an accident, as noted by Autobild.
The vehicle has grown in size: it is now 4.73 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, and has a wheelbase of 2.89 meters. This upgrade makes the second row more spacious, and the doors open wider—facilitating child access or car seat installation. The backrests are adjustable, and the seats slide forward and backward. A seven-seat configuration is available for an extra fee, but this option wasn’t displayed at the presentation in Spain, so it’s difficult to assess the third row’s comfort for now.
Interior and technology
Inside, the GLB 2026 feels spacious thanks to a panoramic roof with triple-layer glass that protects against heat and UV rays. Optionally, the ceiling can be decorated with glowing stars, creating a night sky effect. The trunk holds 540 liters (five seats) or 480 liters (seven seats) depending on the configuration, and with the seats folded, capacity increases to 1,715 and 1,605 liters, respectively.
The centerpiece is the MBUX Superscreen system with three displays: a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, plus 14-inch screens for multimedia and for the passenger. The system supports voice control powered by artificial intelligence, integration with Microsoft, Google, and ChatGPT, as well as over-the-air updates. There are fewer physical buttons, but two new keys appeared on the steering wheel following criticism of the touch controls. Audio is provided by a Burmester system with 16 speakers and 850 watts of power.
Performance and Charging
The electric GLB comes in two versions: the GLB 250+ with rear-wheel drive and 272 hp, and the GLB 350 4Matic with all-wheel drive and 354 hp. Range is up to 630 km for the base version and 614 km for the all-wheel-drive model. All electric models are equipped with an 85 kWh battery and support DC charging up to 200 kW, enabling 260 km of range in just 10 minutes. For AC charging, 11 kW is standard, with 22 kW available as an option. An adapter for charging from 400-volt stations is also available.
The hybrid lineup includes the GLB 200 (163+30 hp, front-wheel drive), GLB 200 4Matic (same power, all-wheel drive), and GLB 220 4Matic (190+30 hp, all-wheel drive). All use 48-volt technology. The electric version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and the driver can choose from six sound profiles for a personalized driving experience. The suspension is soft and smooths out bumps effectively, but the steering feels light even in sport mode, and the accelerator pedal takes some getting used to.
Prices and competitors
The GLB 250+ is priced from €55,925, while the GLB 350 4Matic starts at €63,800. Hybrid versions range from €55,200 to €60,050 depending on trim and drivetrain. According to RUSSPAIN.COM, Mercedes expects equal demand for electric and hybrid variants. The models are already available in showrooms, making it possible to compare them with offers from other brands. For instance, a competitor with similar characteristics was recently launched — the seven-seater electric crossover BYD Tang 2026, which also focuses on spaciousness and fast charging, but takes a different approach to pricing and equipment.
The Mercedes GLB is not just another SUV, but an attempt to combine family comfort, advanced technology, and electric drive dynamics. This long-standing brand continues to introduce innovations, focusing on safety, convenience, and personalized settings for both driver and passengers. With these new features, the GLB 2026 is likely to attract those looking for a versatile vehicle for city driving and travel without sacrificing style or functionality.
Mercedes-Benz is one of Europe’s oldest and most recognizable car manufacturers, renowned for its attention to detail and adoption of advanced technologies. The GLB model first entered the brand’s lineup in response to growing demand for compact yet spacious crossovers. In 2026, the company is focusing on electrification and expanding its range, offering solutions for different buyer categories. The new generation GLB reflects Mercedes’ commitment to blending tradition with innovation, maintaining its distinctive style while adding modern options for comfort and safety.
