Chinese manufacturer BYD continues to expand its presence in the Spanish market with the launch of the hybrid Seal 6 DM-i. The new model is offered in two body styles: a classic sedan and a Touring wagon. Both versions are designed for private buyers as well as the corporate sector.
The Seal 6 DM-i is the second BYD plug-in hybrid in Europe, following the successful Seal U DM-i, which has already sold over one million units worldwide. The new model uses the same Dual Mode technology as its predecessor, but features a lower body height, resulting in improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Its exterior design follows BYD’s current signature style, with smooth lines and optimized forms.
The sedan measures 4,840 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm—exceeding the class average. The front is highlighted by a minimalist grille, chrome accents, and LED headlights with a distinctive pattern. The side profile features 18-inch wheels, while the rear is equipped with Matrix-LED taillights.
The Touring is BYD’s first wagon officially introduced in Europe. It maintains the sedan’s length but is slightly taller at 1,505 mm. The trunk capacity is 500 liters up to the shelf, 675 liters to the roof, and 1,535 liters with the rear seats folded.
The Seal 6 DM-i is built on the Dual Mode hybrid system, allowing the vehicle to be used as an electric car or to combine both engines for extended range. The Boost version features a Blade battery with 10.08 kWh capacity, 184 hp, and can travel up to 1,505 km on the WLTP cycle. The Comfort Lite and Comfort trims offer 212 hp and a 19 kWh battery, providing up to 105 km of electric range (100 km for the Touring) and a total driving range of up to 1,455 km for the sedan. All versions receive the Cero environmental label from the DGT.
The Seal 6 DM-i delivers impressive performance: 0–100 km/h acceleration takes less than 9 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. The package includes a V2L function, allowing you to power external devices up to 3.3 kW.
The interior features a modern design with high-quality materials. The central display, available in 12.8 or 15.6 inches, can be rotated, while the digital instrument cluster measures 8.8 inches. There is wireless charging and four USB-C ports. The front seats are electrically adjustable, with memory, ventilation, and heating. The rear row offers generous space for passengers.
The base Boost trim includes LED headlights, alloy wheels, climate control, parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Comfort versions add a panoramic roof, an upgraded audio system, and an expanded suite of technologies. All models are equipped with seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, a surround view system, and a comprehensive set of electronic driver aids.
